Millions of people are checking their tickets with a whopping £95 million lottery jackpot up for grabs.

If a EuroMillions single-ticket holder has the winning numbers - 07, 12, 16, 17 and 39 with the Lucky Stars 03 and 08 - they will receive the world's biggest payout, the National Lottery has said.

The jackpot has rolled five times since it was last won on July 18 and if won in the UK, the ticket would make its lucky owner the joint 871st-richest person in the country.

In the UK alone, EuroMillions ticket sales were expected to have exceeded 1.5 million tickets an hour at their peak in the run up to Friday's draw.

The prize would eclipse Glasgow postal administrator Angela Kelly's £35.4 million EuroMillions jackpot win in August last year and the £77 million netted by Ireland's Dolores McNamara in July 2005.

According to the Queen's bankers Coutts & Co, a single winner would earn about £12,918 a day in interest alone on the estimated jackpot, or £90,673 a week and £4,715,000 million a year.
